Ed Myers - Age 62

Louis Edwin “Ed” Myers, Jr. was born on July 28, 1950 to Louis Sr. and Jean (Horacek) Myers in Walnut, Iowa. He was baptized at the First Presbyterian Church where he remained a lifelong member. He graduated from Walnut High School and attended one year of college at the University of Iowa before enlisting in the United States Navy and serving during the Vietnam War.

After his honorable discharge from the military, Ed became a very skilled private aircraft mechanic and continued in this career until his retirement. He worked at Duncan Aviation in Lincoln, Nebraska, before relocating to Colorado to be closer to his daughters. He worked at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport in Broomfield and for the National Center for Aeronautics Research (NCAR).

Throughout his life, Ed enjoyed riding his motorcycle and building model ships and airplanes. He restored reed pump organs and donated one to the school house in Walnut as well as other restorations while undergoing cancer treatments.
Ed died at his home on Sunday, June 30, 2013 having attained the age of sixty-two years, eleven months, and six days. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Gloria in May of this year.

He is survived by his daughters Tina Ann and her husband Ross Gregory of Brighton, Colorado, and Katie-Lynne Myers of Northglenn, Colorado; one grandson Xavier Gregory; other family members and friends.

Pastor David Krueger officiated the 10:00 AM funeral service on Friday, July 12, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church in Walnut, Iowa. Music was provided by Connie Jensen. The Walnut American Legion Post No. 422 and the Walnut AmVets Post No. 45 were in attendance. Serving as casket bearers were Louis Swanson, Katie-Lynn Myers, Tina Gregory, Ross Gregory, Scott Swanson, Alan Long, and Eric Long. Military rites were conducted by the American Legion Post No. 151 at the Fullerton Cemetery in Fullerton, Nebraska on Saturday, July 13, 2013.
