Sandra K. Miller - Age 74

Sandra Kay Miller was born on February 25, 1938 to Clarence and Pearl (Oakley) Lacy in Audubon, Iowa. She started her schooling in Audubon and graduated from Irwin High School with the Class of 1956.

On May 20, 1956, she was united in marriage to LeRoy Miller in Manilla, Iowa. Three children were born to this union: Kimberly, Dirk, and Mardy.

Sandra owned and operated Sandy’s Day Care for forty-nine years. She loved the children she cared for as her own. She always liked to be outdoors and had a flourishing flower garden that she tended to. When she was inside, she enjoyed baking and cooking.

One of her favorite activities was dancing, especially polka dancing. She also loved to take her children and grandchildren on picnics - they were her whole world.

Sandra was a long-time member of St. Andrew’s Methodist Church in Omaha and was active with the church women’s group.

Sandra died at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska on Saturday, November 24, 2012, having attained the age of seventy-four years, eight months, and thirty days. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-six years LeRoy Miller of Bennington, Nebraska; daughter Kimberly and her husband Perry Elmore of Bennington, Nebraska; sons Dirk Miller of Harlan, Iowa and Mardy Miller and his wife Danine of Harlan; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; brother Don Lacy and his wife Janine of Ashland, Missouri; sister Wava Lorenzen of Manning, Iowa; other family members and friends.

Pastor Bruce Davis officiated the 11:00 AM funeral service on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa. Honorary casket bearers were: Cody White, Brandon White, Ethan Crowley, Jacob Miller and Matthew Miller.
