Eva Mae Hansen - Age 71

Eva Mae Hansen was born on April 6, 1941 to Floyd and Esther (Hundt) Eilenstine at their home in Minden, Iowa. She attended country schools near Avoca, Carson, and Walnut before graduating from Atlantic High School.

On May 11, 1962, Eva Mae was united in marriage to Richard Hansen in Omaha, Nebraska. Together they became the parents of eight children: Arleane, Teresa, Toby, Richard, Timothy, Tammy, Tony, and Patrick.

Eva Mae worked for over twenty years at Communication Data Services in Harlan, Iowa. She loved reading her bible and going to all the church functions, watching old movies, and caring for her roses. She retired from CDS in 2000, and won a battle against breast cancer in 2007. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and going on picnics.

She died on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the Avoca Nursing and Rehab Center in Avoca, Iowa, having attained the age of seventy-one years, ten months, and fifteen days. She was united in Heaven with her son Toby, her parents Floyd and Esther Eilenstine, grandparents Ernest and Christina Hundt and Henry and Edith Eilenstine; and brothers Gerald and Frederick.

She is survived by her husband of over fifty years Richard Hansen of Harlan, Iowa; her children: Teresa Derry of Des Moines, Iowa, Rick Hansen and his wife Stacy of Manilla, Iowa, Tim Hansen and his wife Lisa of Avoca, Iowa, Tammy and her husband Jon Berger of Dunlap, Iowa, Tony Hansen of Harlan, and Patrick Hansen and his wife Larissa of Harlan; step-daughter Arleane and her husband Richard Suko of Billings, Montana; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Denny Eilenstine of Ottawa, Kansas, Karol and Bob Dorsey of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Darlene Deveroux of Messena, Iowa, and Nancy Larson of Omaha, Nebraska, other family members and friends.

Pastor Brian Taylor officiated the 1:00 PM funeral service at Pauley Jones Funeral Home on Monday, February 25, 2013. Honorary casket bearers were Kyle Hansen, Josh Hansen, Michael Darrow, Carter Hansen, Morris Moore, Russell Wirth, Brian Moore, Thomas Lee Moore, Nick Darrow, and Lloyd Darrow. Serving as casket bearers were Rick Martin, Gerry Thraen, Jow Wagerman, Kenny Hursey, Rich Garrison, Paul Domina, and Larry Wilkerson. Interment was held at the Harlan Cemetery.
