Musich, Marvin Frank (1941 – 2013)

Marvin Frank Musich, son of Michael and Marie (Weihs) Musich, was born on May 21, 1941 near Westphalia, Iowa. He was baptized, received his first communion, confirmed and graduated from St. Boniface Catholic Church and School in Westphalia.

On June 9, 1962, Marvin was united in marriage to Phyllis Sorensen at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan, Iowa. Four children were born to this union: Robin, Rodney, Lorie and Kevin. After their marriage Marvin worked at Schechinger Family Farms, Harlan Produce, Wigness Machine and the Harlan Pork Plant. He then owned and operated Marv’s Sales and Service Company for a number of years until his retirement.

Marvin enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cards, helping his family and playing with his grandchildren. He was a past member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan and a long time member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Westphalia. He was a fifty year member of the Woodmen of the World, active member of the Westphalia Volunteer Fire Department for over forty years and played Westphalia town team baseball for many years. Marvin was embraced in love by the Elmer Schechinger family and they always held a special place in his heart.

Marvin died on October 15, 2011 at the Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, Iowa having attained the age of seventy years, four months and twenty-four days. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Robert and Jerry.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Musich of Westphalia, Iowa; his children: Robin and her husband Roger Leuschen of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Rodney Musich and his wife Joan of Westphalia; Lorie and her husband Nick Nihsen of Kevil, Kentucky and Kevin Musich and his wife Staci of Westphalia; his grandchildren: Melissa, Shelby, Luke, Lexi, Savanna and Brock; his sisters: Jeanette and her husband Larry Fryrear and Marilyn Herbst both of Omaha, Nebraska; his sister-in-law, Judy Musich of Green River, Wyoming; nieces and nephews; other family members and many friends.

Rev. John Dorton celebrated the 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Westphalia, Iowa. Interment was held at the St. Boniface Cemetery with Norman Schmitz, Roger Schmitz, Delbert Bruck, Eugene Sibenaller, Mike Schechinger and Gary Gubbels serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers were Bill Grote, Ronnie Langenfeld, Ed Wehr, Harold Schwery, Red Ruschenberg, Jerry Gross, Randy Armentrout, Dennis Musich, Daniel Engle, Ronnie Zimmerman, Gene Blum and Neil Schmitz.
