Marriage: Andrew Bruce Whannell, December 28, 1945, First Presbyterian Church, Shelby, IA

Employment: Employed by Blue and White Grocery Store, Shelby, IA; she then moved to Kansas City; she was employed there by Montgomery Wards; she played basketball for the store team. After her marriage, she farmed with her spouse, first south of Shelby, and later outside of Harlan, IA. Later, she worked as a nurse’s aide at Myrtue Memorial Hospital, and, in 1991, began working at Elm Crest Retirement Community as a CAN; in addition, Mildred worked part-time for Mickel’s Catering. She retired in 2002 to care for her spouse.

Hobbies/Interests: Member, First United Methodist Church, Harlan, IA; she loved the farm, and enjoyed cooking and baking.
