Virginia A. Bristol, age 94, of Council Bluffs, passed away March 7, 2013, at Bethany Lutheran Home.

Virginia was born September 3, 1918, in Fontanelle, Neb., to the late Wallace S. And Amelia M. (Churchill) Whitson. She graduated Harlan, Iowa High School in 1936. Virginia married Wilferd P. Bristol on January 27, 1939. She farmed in Audubon County for seventeen years, taught in rural schools for four years and retired as a nurse aide from Jennie Edmundson Hospital in 1981 after a twenty year career. Virginia was a member of Church of Christ- Non-Instrumental.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Wilferd in 1989; infant son, Richard in 1941 and grandson, Devon Bristol in 2003.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Delores K. (Duane) Diercks, of Spanaway, Wash.; sons, David L. (Dolores) Bristol, of Council Bluffs, Gary L. (Marsha) Bristol, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; sister, Helen Foreman, of Indianola, Iowa; brother, Glen (Terri) Whitson, of Wisconsin Dells, Wis.; nieces and nephews.

Memorial service Friday, May 3, 2013, 2 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Garth Hilton will officiate. A lunch will follow at the Walnut Hill Reception Center, 1350 E. Pierce St. Visitation with the family one hour prior to the service. Inurnment, Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Church of Christ Cemetery, Redline, Iowa. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
