Teresa Ozbun - Age 44

Teresa Lynne (Christensen) Ozbun was born on July 22, 1968, in Harlan, Iowa, the daughter of Elwood and Mary (White) Christensen. She graduated from Harlan High School with the Class of 1987. She was married to Mark Todd Ozbun on May 13, 1989, in Kirkman, Iowa. Teresa was a dietician for Linn Manor Care Center in Marion for a number of years, and was most recently a kitchen aide for the Cedar Rapids School District for six years.

Teresa was comforted by her family, and prayed for by many, many wonderful, caring people who knew her and her loving, caring heart. She fought a brave, hard battle to beat this terrible disease called cancer, but sadly, her body was weaker than her heart.

Teresa died on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at her home having attained the age of forty-four years, seven months, and nineteen days. She was preceded in death by her father Elwood Christensen; brother Todd Christensen; mother-in-law Barbara Ozbun; and both she and Mark’s grandparents.

She is survived by her husband of twenty-four years, Mark Ozbun of Marion, Iowa; three sons: Jesse, Joseph, and Jamie Ozbun, all of Marion; two grandchildren: Blake and Isabel; mother Mary and her husband Arthur Winter of South Dakota; brother Rick Christensen of Indianola; sister Elizabeth Winter and her children: Kurtis, Luke, and Taryn of Kentucky; and niece and nephews, Tessa Christensen, Matthew Bruck, and Jeffery Christensen.

A visitation was held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, Iowa and on Monday, March 18, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa. Pastor Merlene Ostebee officiated the 10:30 AM funeral service on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Peace Lutheran Church in Harlan. Interment was held at the Harlan Cemetery.
