HARRY M. RASMUSSEN, 94, of Audubon, died Sun., July 23rd, at the Friendship Home in Audubon. Funeral services for HARRY RASMUSSEN will be held 2-p.m. Sat., July 28th, at the Ebenezer Lutheran Church, west of Audubon. Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon has the arrangements.

Friends may call at the funeral home, where the family visitation is at 6-p.m. Fri., July 27th.

Burial will be in the Ebenezer Lutheran Cemetery west of Audubon.

HARRY RASMUSSEN is survived by:
His wife – Ruby;
His children – Sheryl Burmaster, of Minneapolis, MN; Norlan (Lois) Rasmussen, of Audubon, & Marvin (Beth) Rasmussen, of Jefferson;
7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Services for 94 year old Harry M. Rasmussen of Audubon will be held at 2pm on Saturday, July 28 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church with burial in the Ebenezer Lutheran Cemetery both west of Audubon. Harry Rasmussen passed away on Monday, July 23 at the Friendship Home in Audubon. Survivors include his wife Ruby; children: Sheryl Burmaster of Minneapolis, MN, Norlan (Lois) Rasmussen of Audubon, Marvin (Beth) Rasmussen of Jefferson; 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon is in charge of arrangements where family visitation will be held on Friday, July 27 at 6pm.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Ronald Yarnell on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at 2:00 P.M. at the Ebenezer Lutheran Church west of Audubon, Iowa.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Ebenezer Lutheran Cemetery west of Audubon.

Obituary:
Harry Marvin Rasmussen, the son of Martin P. and Elizabeth Nielsen Rasmussen, was born June 8, 1918, at his parents’ home in Douglas Township, Audubon County, Iowa and died July 23, 2012, at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 94 years, 1 month, and 15 days. Harry was baptized and confirmed at the Ebenezer Lutheran Church west of Audubon. He attended rural school in Douglas Township and later attended classes at Dana College in Blair, Nebraska. Harry worked for a brief time in Omaha, and during World War II he worked in the shipyards in Oregon. After the war he returned to farm with his father. On October 3, 1946, he was united in marriage to Ruby Mae Jensen. Four children, Sheryl, Norlan, Marvin and an infant son, were born to this union. Harry farmed west of Audubon where he grew row crops and raised livestock until he retired. Harry was an active, life-long member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church and held several teaching and leadership positions, including President of the Church Council. He was also a member of The Gideons International and served on the board of the Salem Homes in Elk Horn. Harry moved to the Friendship home in 2010. In his later years, he always enjoyed talking about farming and working his daily word puzzles. He often amazed friends and family with his sharp memory of local people and events. Harry was preceded in death by an infant son; his son-in-law David Burmaster; his sister Mildred and husband Einer Nissen; his sisters-in-law: Evelyn and husband Raymond Nielsen and Carrie Jensen. He is survived by his wife Ruby Rasmussen of Audubon, Iowa; his children: Sheryl Burmaster of Minneapolis, MN, Norlan and wife Lois Rasmussen of Audubon, and Marvin and wife Beth of Jefferson, IA; his grandchildren: Dana Burmaster and Steve Harkin of Madison, WI, Nicole and husband Mike McCain of Minneapolis, MN, Leslie and husband Chad Gorman of Eau Claire, WI, Stephanie and husband Jake Anderson of Atlantic, IA, Micah Rasmussen of West Carthage, NY, and Miriam and husband Pedro Mendoza of Spring, TX; his great-grandchildren: Bennett and Natalie McCain, Jack and Ty Gorman, and Luke and Abigail Anderson; his nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation:
The family will meet friends Friday evening at 6:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.
