CHARLES F STEIN DEAD

Step-Father of Senator Alfred Hurst Passes Away.

Word was received by John Schick this morning stating that Charles F. Stein, step-father of Senator Alfred Hurst, had passed away. His death occurred at the home of Senator Hurst in Hurstville, near Maquoketa, last evening at 9:30 o'clock. The cause of death was not given.

Mr. Stein has been a resident of this county for many years. He was one of the early settlers and lived in Blue Grass township for a long time, also in this city, where he was widely known. He was also a property holder in this city.

About eight or nine years ago he lost his wife, Mr. Hurst's mother, and since that time he had divided his time between the home of his two step-sons, Alfred and William Hurst.

The remains will be brought to this city Saturday morning and from here they will be driven to Blue Grass, where they will be interred by the side of those of his wife. This is in accord with his dying wishes.
