Last rites for Clarence E. (Smitty) Smith, 76, former Clarence-Lowden resident, were held at Davenport Jan. 16 with burial in Davenport Memorial Park. Smith, 3407 Fillmore St., Davenport, died at Fejervary Health Care center, Davenport, Jan. 16.

The son of William and Lena Schluter Smith, he was born Oct. 13, 1909 and was married to Doris Heritage in Davenport in 1944. He retired from the Eldridge Co-op in 1975. He had been employed at the Rock Island Auction Inc., New Liberty Sale barn and the Wapello Sale barn. He was a member of the Quad City Plus 60 club.

He is survived by his wife; 2 daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Sharlynn) Ruchholz, Walcott and Doreen Smith, Davenport; 2 grandchildren and a brother, Emil, Wheatland. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Harlan (Luella) Pruess.
