Funeral services for Merle Schinckel, 28, New Liberty, will be held at 10 a.m. today, June 11, at Runge Mortuary in Davenport, with the Rev. Don Yerington of the Stockton Baptist church officiating. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.

Mr. Schinckel died June 8 at his home in New Liberty.

The son of Paul and Marian Juergens Schinckel, he was born Nov. 14, 1947 in Davenport.

He graduated from Durant high school in 1976 and Iowa State University in 1982 with a degree in farm operations. He farmed near New Liberty for 4 years.

He was a member and officer of the Durant Jaycees, Cedar Street Baptist church in Tipton and the Scott County Farm Bureau.

Mr. Schinckel is survived by his parents in Walcott; 2 sisters, Lynda Moore, York, Neb. and Lisa Schinckel, Walcott; a brother, Allan, West Lafayette, Ind. and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Juergens, Davenport.
