Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Schwarz, 85, a former resident of Durant, were held at Durant Feb. 19 with burial in the Durant cemetery.

Mrs. Schwarz died at a Davenport nursing home Feb. 16.

Born Aug. 31, 1885 in Germany, a daughter of Ferdinand and Mary Brandt, she came to the United States with her parents at the age of 5. The family settled in the Durant community. Mrs. Schwarz had lived in Davenport 32 years.

The former Margaret Brandt married Chris Rohlf and the couple operated a meat market in Durant. Mr. Rohlf died in 1935. She married Hugh Schwarz in 1942. He died in 1970.

Mrs. Schwarz was a member of the Northwest Davenport Turner Society.

Survivors are a brother, Claus Brandt, Austin, Minn. and a sister, Mrs. J. Paul (Anna) Roney, Des Moines; also several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death besides her husbands were 2 sisters and a brother.
