Larry H. Love, 74, of Joplin, MO, passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday, November 5, 2021, at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, MO. Cremation has been accorded. A public celebration of life ceremony will follow on Friday, June 10th at 6:30pm at Faith Family Church 12811 US Route 150 in Orion, IL.

The former Larry H. Love was born March 6, 1947, at Moline Public Hospital, Moline IL, the son of the late Harold F. and Dorothy L. (Holliday) Love. He graduated from Orion High School in 1965, where he was a standout running back for the undefeated 1964-1965 Orion Chargers football team, a fact that he loved to humbly brag about whenever there was a captive audience. He received football scholarship offers from the University of Oklahoma and University of Alabama, which he turned down to marry the love of his life, Sharen, and then attend Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL to pursue his true calling and passion in life, Christian ministry.

He was married to Sharen M. Naslund on June 12, 1965, at Cambridge Methodist Church. His loving wife, Sharen, preceded him in death on November 3, 2021. Larry was in Christian ministry with Sharen for 51 years. In 2004 they co-founded Eagles Rest Ministries in Joplin, MO. During their time on earth, Larry and Sharen dedicated their lives to sharing the love and gospel of Jesus Christ, which Larry wouldn’t hesitate to do with even the random stranger on the street. That passion took them on several missionary trips to various continents around the world, including Africa, which held a unique special place in his heart. Larry’s life verse in the Bible was John 15:16. He received that verse as a young teenager in church, and it sent him on a life-long mission of serving the Lord. Larry loved people, he loved Jesus, and he will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Scot and Susan Love, Jonathan and Melanie Love, two grandchildren, Tyler and Reagan Love all of Pittsburgh, PA, one step granddaughter, Danielle (Brian) Tursi, two step great-grandchildren, Sophia and Wyatt Tursi all of San Antonio, TX.
