MILAN-Dr. Kenneth L. Heinze, 78, of Milan, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 3, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, September 10, 2021, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Milan. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Memorials may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Milan, or to the Christian Care Homeless Shelter, Rock Island.

Ken was born on July 14, 1943, in Rock Island County, son of Rodney and Edna (Ferkel) Heinze. He married Sharon Johnson on July 15, 2000. Ken was a graduate of Rock Ridge High School. Ken retired as a coordinator of trades, industry and pre-school in 1998 from Davenport Community School District. He earned his PhD in Psychology in 1987 from the University of Iowa where he also did research and some teaching. Ken was an avid golfer, Chicago White Sox and Iowa Hawkeye fan, holding season tickets for many years. Ken was very knowledgeable and a hobbyist of antique cars. He had an outstanding memory regarding car makes, models and dates of special occasions of friends and family. He served in the U.S. Army in the 101st Airborne, stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY. Ken was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Milan.

Ken is survived by his wife, Sharon, Milan; daughters, Laura (Matt) Middleton, Oakwood, OH and Sarah (Brian) Angarone, Gilbert, AZ; stepson, Jay (Kim) Bealer; son-in-law, Dave Strand; 5 grandchildren; 1 step grandson; sister, Eleanor Findlay; and his beloved dog, Sofie. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lucille Beeding; and stepdaughter, Kelly Strand.
