BETTENDORF-Gloria M. Bender, 88, of Bettendorf, IA, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 11am at Trinity Lutheran Church; visitation will be one hour before the service starting at 10 am. Burial will take place at Clinton Memorial Cemetery in Clinton, IA. Memorials may be directed to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Online condolences may be expressed at www.weertsfh.com

Gloria was born July 30, 1933, to Harry and Malinda (Grill) Meyer in Charlotte, IA. She graduated from Lyon's High School in 1951. On December 13, 1953, Gloria was united in marriage to Charles "Charlie" Bender at St. John's Lutheran Church in Clinton, IA. She worked as an operator for a telephone company before enjoying life as a homemaker while she and Charlie settled outside of Davenport. Gloria was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Davenport. She was an avid Hawkeye fan that enjoyed sewing, mending clothes, quilting, crafts, and researching genealogy.

Gloria will be missed by her children, Ronald (Evelyn) Bender of Davenport and Christine (Andrew) Eickstaedt of Casa Grande, AZ; grandchildren: Steven (Anna) Bender, Kimberly (Cory) Bennett, Kari Bender and Jennifer (Matt White) Eickstaedt; great grandchildren: Emilie and Evan Bender, William Bennett, and Joel Bender; a step great grandson, Austin Bennett; and a brother, Don Meyer of Forest Park, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charlie; a grandson, Kaylen Eickstaedt; two sisters: Harriet and Karen; and three brothers: Delbert, Harris, and Kenneth.
