Richard A. “Screech” Screechfield, 75, of Davenport, Iowa passed away at the VA Hospital in Iowa City, on Monday, August 30, 2021, after an extended illness.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 5-7pm at the Runge Mortuary. Services will be held Friday, September 10, 2021 at 10am at the Runge Mortuary. He will be laid to rest at the Rock Island National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.

Richard was born a son of Phillip Jeffries and Mary Vizard on January 21, 1946 in Rock Island, Illinois. After his birth he was adopted by his mother, Esther (Bertram) Screechfield. He was united in marriage to Cindy (Sindt) Moyer and later divorced. He was later remarried to Ruth. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam conflict. He worked many years for the City of Davenport.

Richard was a loving man that cherished his family and his dog and best friend, Diesel. He was a runner in his younger years and an avid fan of the Cardinals and Bears. He enjoyed sitting on his front porch doing crossword puzzles in his cut-off jean shorts that he rocked!

He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Marchik) Screechfield; his sons, Jared Screechfield and Geoff Screechfield; grandchildren, Christopher, Maissun, MaLeah, and Quintin; and the mother of his children, Cindy (Leroy) Moyer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marsha.
