Scieszinski rites Saturday

Funeral services for a former Monroe County resident, Daniel James Scieszinski, 83, of Davenport, will be held Saturday.

He died Wednesday afternoon at his home of an apparent heart attack.

The services will be held at Halligan’s Funeral Home, with burial to be in a Davenport cemetery.

Scieszinski was born in Coal Valley, ILL.* on August 25, 1891*. He married Mary Comer in Georgetown on May 9, 1916.

Scieszinski was a Monroe County resident for 50 years. He had been a resident of Davenport for the past 32 years. He was a retired employee of the John Deere Moline Works.

Surviving are two sons, James of Davenport and Jack of Albia; two daughters, Mrs. Donna (Ray) Benson of Davenport and Mrs. Betty (Edward) Conway of Newburg, Ind.; one brother, Edward of Janesville, Wis.; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Five brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.*

*NOTE: Daniel James Scieszinski was born at Wayne Township, near Melrose, IA on August 25, 1892 and was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters. Services were at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Davenport with burial at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Davenport, IA.
