Yesterday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock occurred the death of John H. Gruenwald at his home, 601 Clark street. Mr Gruenwald had been ill for some time of dropsy and his death was not altogether unexpected. He was born in Holstein, Germany, January 7, 1844 [1842] and moved to America in 1865 and to Davenport in 1867, where he has resided since. Mr Gurenwald was a member of the American Patriots and was a charter member of the Mystic Toilers. Surviving him are besides the bereaved wife, Mrs Louise Gruenwald, the following children, Mrs Cora [Dora] Lemm, Mrs Louise Orth, John H. Jr., Gustave W. and Otto Gruenwald.
The funeral will be held from the late home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with interment in Fairmount cemetery and will be under the auspices of the two lodges to which he belonged.
