Mrs. Gruenwald, Once Blue Grass Resident, Is Dead

Mrs. Louise Gruenwald, for many years a resident of Blue Grass, died at 8:10 p.m. Saturday at her home, 701 Clark street. Death followed a year's illness. Mrs. Gruenwald had been a resident of Davenport since 1890.
Born in New York City, Aug. 18, 1850, Mrs. Gruenwald came to Iowa, settling at Blue Grass when she was 19 years old. She was married to John H. Gruenwald there, Oct. 17, 1870, and 20 years later they came to Davenport. Here Mr. Gruenwald died in October, 1907. Mrs. Gruenwald was of the Lutheran faith and was a member of Carnival Grove circle, No. 12, W. O. W., of Davenport, having served as chaplain several years. Mr. Gruenwald was in the milling business for many years.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. H. J. Lemm of Davenport and Mrs. Louis Orth of Toronto, Iowa; two sons, J. H. Gruenwald of Alex, Ill., and Otto Gruenwald of Davenport; one sister, Miss Carrie Reichenbacher of Davenport; two brothers, Benjamin Reichenbacher of Davenport and Henry of Des Moines; six great grandchildren. A son, Gustave, died seven years ago.
The body was removed to the Runge mortuary and will be returned to the late home Monday morning. Funeral services will be held there at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with burial in Fairmount cemetery.
