Funeral services were held for John H. Thede Friday afternoon, June 20, 1952, at the Halligan funeral home at Davenport, with burial in the Dixon cemetery, Dixon, Ia.

Mr. Thede passed away Wednesday, June 18, after an illness of 3 months.

He was born near Dixon on June 28, 1860, and farmed there until his retirement when he moved to Dixon where he lived until 1919 when he moved to Davenport where he resided until 1942 when he came to Bennett, where he resided with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Engle, until his death. He married Catherine Petersen on April 8, 1884, and she preceded him in death February 6, 1939.

Survivors include two sons, Peter J. and Henry R. of Davenport; four daughters, Mrs. Adolph Lensch, Mrs. Urban F. Otto of Davenport; Mrs. Wm. Grace and Mrs. John G. Engel of Bennett; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Also a sister, Mrs. Erna Frey of Davenport, Iowa.

Rev. Dr. J. A. Miller officiated at the services and John V. Chapman was the soloist. Pallbearers, all grandsons of the decedent, were John, Roland, Vernon, Ray Thede, John and Wallace Engel.
