Mrs. Christina M. Rathjen, well-known resident of Walcott, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Fischer of that city, at 5:45 o’clock this morning. She had been ill two weeks, and was 84 years of age at the time of her death.

Deceased was born in Adlichengnte, Neuhas, in Gleschendorf, Germany, Dec. 22, 1840, and came to America in 1862, direct to Scott county.

Christina Wunder was married to Joachin Rathjen, Feb. 17, 1863, at Davenport, and the couple lived on a farm one and one-half miles south of Plain View. They retired in 1903 and moved to Walcott where they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1913. The husband preceded her in death in 1915.
