Prominent Live Stock Dealer Dead

Patrick Hirl, Resident of Scott County for 50 Years, Summoned

Patrick Hirl, a well known live stock dealer and a resident of Scott county for the past 50 years, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Mary Jane McKinney, in McCausland, at 9:30 p.m. Thursday. His death was very unexpected, occurring after a two days’ illness of pneumonia.

Mr. Hirl’s genial disposition and good nature made him many friends who will be shocked to learn of his sudden death.

He was born in Ireland, June 2, 1861, and came to this country, and direct to Scott county, when a child. He had since made his home in this community. His business was the buying and selling of hogs and cattle.

Surviving are his sister, Mrs. McKinney, and one brother, Michael Hirl of Long Grove.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 8:45 a.m. From the home of his sister to St. Ann’s church at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Ann’s cemetery.
