Mrs. Sarah Homes, a well known resident of Davenport, passed away at her home, 1712 Rock Island street, yesterday after a short illness. The deceased was a daughter of Adam Noels, one of Davenport’s first settlers. She was born in Davenport in 1841. For many years she lived where Vander Veer park is now located. In 1861 the deceased was united in marriage with Charles R. Homes at St. Marguerite’s church by Bishop Cosgrove. Soon after their marriage the couple moved to St. Louis where they made their home until the death of Mr. Homes in 1900. Two daughters, Mrs. E. Lowther of St. Louis and Charlotte at home, with a brother, Joseph of North Dakota, are the only surviving relatives.
