SCOTT COUNTY RESIDENT FOR 60 YEARS DIES

Ferdinand Amhof Succumbs at Home Near Eldridge, Ia.

Ferdinand Amhof, 72, resident of Scott county for the last 60 years, passed away after an extended illness at 1:35 p.m., Sunday at his home five miles east and a mile north of Eldridge.

Mr. Amhof was born in Saxony, Coburg, Germany, Dec. 28, 1850, and came to Davenport with his parents at the age of 17. He was married to Miss Frances Rotsch, Dec. 13, 1979, at Davenport. The couple settled on a farm west of Eldridge for five years, later moving to their present home where they have resided for the last 43 years. He was a member of the Lutheran church.

Surviving besides the widow are two daughters, Mrs. Adolph Bergert and Mrs. Frank W. Holland, both of R.R. 1, Eldridge; four sons, Rudolph, R.R. 4., Davenport, Harry L. and Alfred A., at home: and Charles, R.R. 1., Eldridge: and five grandchildren. One son George was killed in 1905 at the age of 19 years when he was struck by lightning.

The body was removed to the Runge mortuary where it will remain until Wednesday morning. It will be taken to the late home were services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be in Summit cemetery.
