ALVORD.

The many friends in Davenport of Mrs. Nancy Alvord, relict of Mr. C.C. Alvord, will regret to hear of her death which occurred at San Diego, Cal., on the 18th inst., at the age of 75 years, 3 months and 4 days. She was a member of the Scott County Pioneers' association, having come to Davenport in about 1839 or 1840. She was the sister of Mr. John P. Van Patten, of this city, and Mr. Alvord was long his partner in the wholesale grocery business, finally selling his interest in the firm of Alvord and Van Patten to Maj. Marks. Mr. Alvord moved to Denver about fifteen years ago, where he resided till his death last summer, and Mr.s ALvord then joined a daughter living in San Diego. Our older citizens knew Mrs. Alvord well in her estimable qualities, and will grieve to hear of her death. The remains will arrive here next thursday morning on the 4:40 train. Interment at Oakdale.
