At 1 o'clock this morning at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. M.S. McCune, No. 927 LeClaire street, occurred the death of Mrs. Eliza P. Best, and old time resident of Davenport, the cause of death being cancer of the stomach. Deceased was born in Lancashire, England, where she was married in 1850. With her husband she came to Davenport in 1858, her husband, Thomas Best, taking a position in the boiler shop of C.R.I. * P., which he held for 26 years, until a short time before his death in 1885. Mrs. Best was a wholesoulded, motherly woman who will be greatly missed. She leaves six children, Mrs. Jenni McCune and Mrs. Eliza Whitney and Joseph of Davenport, Mrs. Maggie Anderson and Mrs. Hattie Eklund of Peoria, and Thomas C. Best of Chicago. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock from her daughter's residence, with services by Rev. E.Lovett of Calvary Baptist church and Canon Rodgers of the cathedral. Interment of Pine hill.
