OBITUARY.

THODE.

At four o'clock yesterday afternoon occurred the death of Henry Thode, the well known liquor dealer, after an illness of long duration, first of rheumatism and afterward consumption, the latter being the immediate cause of his demise.

Mr. Thode was born in Neustadt, Schleswig-Holstein, Feb. 15, 1828 and came to this country in 1852. He landed at New Orleans and from there came by boat direct to Rock Island. After living there two years he moved to Davenport and married her on Oct. 28, 1854. He leaves his wife and eight of eleven children surviving him. They are Willie, Laura, Carl, Hugo, Edward, Dora, Marie, and Emma, the later the wife of Henry J. Garstang of this city. Mr. Thode was a member of Scott lodge No. 37 and State encampment No. 8, I.O.O.F., and of the Davenport Shooting society. The body will be cremated at the Davenport crematorium Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
