Obituary

Another veteran has been added to the list of honored dead, by the death of James Kirk at his residence at Judson and North streets yesterday. The deceased was born in Scotland on the 31st of January 1829, coming to American with his parents at the age of four years. In 1857 he was married to Mary A. Shadly of Davis county, this state. When the war broke out, James Kirk was a volunteer from Davenport surviving faithfully and receiving an honorable discharge. Coming back from the battle field he took up his former occupation of blacksmithing and continued until some years ago when ill health forced him to lay aside his duties. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o;clock from the late residence.
