Soenke

Mrs. Catherine Soenke passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Albert Illian, rural rout No. 2 Walcott, at 6:10 O'clock this morning after a lingering illness.

She was born in Javensteadt Germany, June 12, 1846 and her maiden name was Miss Catherine Rohwer. She came to America in 1866, direct to Scott county, and was married in 1867 to Peter Soenke, in Davenport.

The family resided for a number of years on a farm ten miles west of Davenport near the Locust street road. Mr. Soenke passed away February 10, 1892. Deceased remained on the homestead until 1907, since which time she has made her home with her children.

Surviving are two daughter, Mrs. Anna Puck of Davenport, Rural route No. 2, Mrs. Albert Illian of Rural route No. 2 Walcott.

Six sons also survive, being William H. and George F. of Walcott, Peter F. Ernest G. and Fred H. of Davenport and Carl of Stockton.

Twenty-nine grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive with three sister, Mrs. Juergen Holling, Mrs. Elasbe Paasch, Mrs. Christine Holling and one brother, Carl Rohwer, all of Millard, Nebr.

Funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the home of the daughter Mrs. Illian and interment will be made in Fairmount cemetery. The family requests no flowers be sent.
