Ruby

At the home of his brother, H.S. Ruby, 1006 First avenue, Rock Island, at 7:15 Saturday evening, occurred the death of Jerome Ruby of heart disease of over a year's duration. Deceased was born at Millersville, N.Y., sixty-eight years ago and come west in his early youth where he entered upon the river business, with which he has identified ever since. He was one of those masters of the wheel whose life is full of romance and story, and whose experiences on the upper Mississippi would fill a volume. He had a friend for every foot of the river he navigated, who loved him well and by them the tidings of his death will be received as a personal bereavement. Mr. Ruby's home was at Buffalo, Iowa. Three weeks ago he came on a visit two his brother at Rock Island, and was stricken the day he arrived there, his death ended his visit last Saturday. He is survived by his aged mother, a wife and brother, O.M.Ruby of Rock Island and his sister Mrs. A.M. Pruden of Denver.
The funeral took place at Buffalo today, where the remains were taken yesterday morning.
