LeClaire, Iowa – Sandra M. McFate, 61, of LeClaire, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial services for family and close friends will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. At her request, there will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the family.

Sandra was born on Sept. 10, 1943, in Folletts, Iowa to Virgil and Katherine (Rayburn) Fisher. She attended Clinton High School, Clinton, Iowa. She married Howard McFate on Oct. 22, 1960 in Clinton. Sandra was a certified Nurses Aid at Riverview Manor Nursing Home, Pleasant Valley, Iowa, for several years, Steamatic, Bettendorf, and at Super 8, LeClaire. Sandra brought joy to all she came in contact with. She was a lovable, four-foot-ten firecracker. She was a loving wife of 44 years and a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter and sister.

Family left to honor her memory include, her husband, Howard “Sonny” McFate, LeClaire; mother, Katherine Mae Fisher, Folletts; daughters, Deborah Meeker, Port Byron, Ill., Tabatha Case, LeClaire, Courtney Johnson, Burlington, Iowa; brothers, Donald Fisher, Ronald (Marlis) Fisher, both of Clinton, Iowa, James (Kim) Fisher, Camanche, Iowa; sisters, Helen Cronk, Camanche, Iowa, Marilyn (Vernon) Stidham, Rock Island, Ill.; grandchildren, Alex and Tyler Meeker, Matthew McFate, Brooklynn Case, Ryan McFate, Austin Johnson, and Carolyn Buchanan; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by twin sons, her father, and brother.
