Clarabel Steiger

Services for Clarabel Kosgard Steiger, 80, a resident of Iowa Masonic Nursing Home, Bettendorf, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation is 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at McGinnis Funeral Home, where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

She died Wednesday at Davenport Osteopathic Hospital.

Clarabel Watkins married William Kosgard in 1924 in Chicago. They owned and operated the State Street Tap, Bettendorf, and earlier a grocery store in Bettendorf. He died in 1950. She married Herbert Steiger in 1951 in Corinth, Miss.

She was a member of the church, Bettendorf Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary Post 9128 and Women of the Moose 619, Rockford, Ill.

Survivors include her husband; daughters, Mrs. Jack (Lillian) Spratt, Bettendorf and Mrs. Ed (Mary Jane) McMahon and Mrs. A. P. (Katherine) Turner, both of Rockford; sons, William and Jack Kosgard, both of Davenport; stepsons, Herbert Steiger Jr., Panorama Park, and James Steiger, Dixon; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Wiebers, Camanche, Iowa, and Betty Getty, Bettendorf; and brothers, Thomas Watkins, LeClaire, and Merle Watkins, Jonesville, Mich.
