William T. Kosgard, Tavern, Restaurant Owner, 51, Is Dead.

William Thomas Kosgard, 1711 1/2 State street, Bettendorf, proprietor of the Kosgard tavern and restaurant, Bettendorf, died in St. Luke's hospital at 3 p.m. Monday following two weeks' illness.

Mr. Kosgard, who observed his 51st birthday Sunday, had been engaged in the grocery business in Bettendorf for a number of years.

A native of Davenport, he was born April 16, 1899, and had resided in Bettendorf the last 25 years.

His marriage to Clara Watkins took place in Chicago Oct. 28 1924. He was a member of the Bettendorf Volunteer fire department. Our Lady of Lourdes church, Bettendorf, and the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Melvin Hass, Sparland, Ill; Mrs. Russell Johnson, Bettendorf, and Miss Lillian Kosgard, at home; two sons, William Kosgard, jr., and John Kosgard, both at home; his father, John Kosgard, Bettendorf; two brothers, John and Louis Kosgard, both of Davenport, and three grandchildren.

The body was removed to McGinnis funeral home, where services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Thursday. A requiem high mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes church, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary cemetery. The rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
