BETTENDORF - Services for Charles P. Hlavaty, 79, of Mission, Texas, formerly of Bettendorf, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at McGinnis, Chambers and Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley (Iowa) Cemetery.
Visitaton is 4-8 p.m. Thursday.
He died Sunday at his home.
He was a retired ironworker affliated many years with Ironworkers Local 111, Rock Island.
Mr. Hlavaty married Betty Tharp in 1941 in Bettendorf. She preceded him in death. He married Blanche Watkins in 1949 in Bettendorf. She died in 1985. He married Leona "Lee" Peters in 1986 in Mission.
He was past master of Hamilton Lodge 664, Bettendorf, and a member of several other affiliated Masonic organizations. During the 1940s, he was a member of Civilian Conservation Corps.
He enjoyed dancing and was a member of local dance clubs for many years.
A memorial fund has been established.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sherrie (Mrs. Jack) Hunter, Rock Island; sons, Michael Hlavaty, Davenport, Charles Hlavaty, Florissant, Mo., Ronald Watkins, East Moline, and Harry Watkins, Chesterfield, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
