PAUL D'BACKER, ONCE RESIDENT OF COUNTY, DIES

Death Occurs Today in Moline; Farmed Near Here 20 Years.

Paul DeBacker, for 20 years a Scott county farmer, died at 11:45 o'clock this morning at the Moline public hospital. He underwent an operation five days ago.

Since last December Mr. DeBacker had made his home at Twenty-third avenue and Thirty-sixth Moline.

Born in Belgium, May 22, 1872, he came to this country when he was 14 years old, and had farmed near Davenport until moving to Moline.

He married Miss Erma Vander Vennet, Feb. 6, 1897. She survives, besides three daughters, Mrs. Erwin Schneckloth of Davenport, Mrs. Rudolph DeWolf [DeWulf] of Moline, and Irene DeBacker, at home; a son, Albert of Moline, two brothers, Bernard of Moline and Louis of St. Louis, and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be held from the late home at 8:30 o'clock Thursday morning, with services at Sacred Heart church, Moline, at 9 o'clock. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery, East Moline.
