July 9, 1946WILLIAM KREITER, RETIRED FARMER, DIES AT AGE 68
William Kreiter, 68, a farmer in Lincoln township 35 years before retiring and moving to Mt. Joy 10 years ago, died in Mercy hospital at 9:45 a. m. Tuesday morning following a 10-day illness.A well-known resident of Scott county, Mr. Kreiter was an assessor in Lincoln township 16 years; president of the Eldridge Telephone Co. for 20 years; secretary of the American Mutual Insurance Co. 12 years and for the past 20 years a director of the Pine Hill Cemetery association. He was of Lutheran faith.
The son of Charles and Mary Kreiter, he was born in Davenport township, Jan. 31, 1878, and received his education in the rural schools and Duncan Business college. He married Matilda Koch in Davenport on Feb. 21, 1900.
Surviving are his widow; four sons, Henry, Clarence, Carl and Willard, all of Davenport, and 14 grandchildren. Three sisters and a brother preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held in the Hill & Fredericks chapel at 1:30 p. m. Friday followed by burial in Pine Hill cemetery.
