Gladys I. Willich

BUFFALO, Iowa --- Funeral services for Gladys I. Willich, 92, of Buffalo, Iowa, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel in Davenport. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Buffalo. The family will greet friends on Monday from 12:30 until service time at the mortuary. Mrs. Willich died on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at her residence in Buffalo.

Gladys Irene Messer was born on April 15, 1916, in Lockridge, Iowa, the daughter of John and Stella (Hill) Messer. On August 10, 1940, she married Harold. H. Willich in Davenport. He preceded her in death in February 1987.

Mrs. Willich worked in the meat processing department at Oscar Mayer in Davenport for many years retiring in 1979. Her memberships and special interests included the VFW Auxiliary Post 6072, the Phythian Sisters Lodge 49 and she was an avid bingo player.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Iliff of Buffalo, Iowa; a son, Fred (Jackie) Willich of Byron, Ill.; a sister, Ester Dollens of Davenport; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters; Grace, Viola and Bessie, and four brothers, Leonard, Everett, Glen, and an infant brother at birth.
