IN MEMORIAM-
Ira Copp, gave his life that liberty might live, Monday, November 19, 1917. Ira Copp was a 1st Class gunner’s mate on U. S. torpedo boat destroyer “Chauncey,” sunk in European waters, within war zone.

Ira Copp was born in Hurstville, Iowa, August 27, 1888. His parents moved to Davenport and while living there he enlisted in the United States Navy, May 18, 1906. He had served eleven and one-half years. The last visit he paid here was three years ago this summer, when on furlough. He leaves to mourn his death are his mother, Mrs. Isaac Hibbs, three brothers, Albert, Bert and Elmer, all of Maquoketa, and three sisters, Mrs. Charles Ingram of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Ernest McClure of Los Angeles, California and Ed Gaines of Alameda, California.
