Gale S. Daudel, age 70, of Harpers Ferry, Iowa formerly of Davenport, Iowa died Wednesday, July 15, 1988 at the home of his daughter in Bettendorf, Iowa after an extended illness. Services were held Monday July 20 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial was in the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois.

He had been a state high school pole vaulting champion in 1936. He retired in 1974 as a mechanical engineering technician for quality assurance directorate at the arsenal where he was employed for 38 years. He married Vivian Clemens in 1941 in Kirksville, Missouri. He was an Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Association of Retired Federal Employees, American Legion Scenic Post 722 and St. Ann's and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Harpers Ferry, Iowa. He enjoyed fishing, reading, snowmobiling and was a ballroom dance instructor.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian; his 3 daughters, Mrs. William (Shirley) Vaughn, Bettendorf, Iowa, Marilyn Schroeder, Austin, Texas, and Mrs. Michael (Diane) Kehl, Davenport, Iowa; a son, Gale G. Daudel of Bettendorf, Iowa and 7 grandchildren.

Note: The obituary did not list his parents, place of birth, high school attended where he was state champion in 1936, and does not mention if he had any siblings.
