Mrs. Katherine Freund, wife of George A. Freund, 2008 East Twelfth street, died at 4 o'clock this morning at her home after an illness of four month's duration. Although her health had been failing for some time, her death was sudden and unexpected, and proved a great shock to her many friends and relatives.

She was born in Davenport, Feb. 18, 1855, and in 1882 was united in marriage to Mr. Freund at St. Joseph's church, the ceremony being performed by Monsignor A. Niermann. Mrs. Freund's maiden name was Cawiezell.

Surviving are her husband, three sons, Paul and George Jr., at home, and Julius also of Davenport; two daughters, Mrs. H. Mortier of Rock Island and Mrs. F. Nelson of Davenport; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Thelken and Mrs. Mary Hamman of this city; one brother, Julius Cawiezell of Davenport; and six grandchildren.

The body was taken to the Fred N. Ruhl funeral home where it will remain until Saturday morning, when it will be removed to the home, whence the funeral will be held Monday morning at 8:30 with services at 9 o'clock at St. Joseph's church. Interment will be in Holy Family cemetery.

The Freund Funeral

The funeral of Mrs. Katherine Freund, wife of George A. Freund, was held this morning at 8:30 from the family home, 2008 East Twelfth street, with services at 9 o'clock at St. Joseph's church. Rev. Anthony Schoeningh celebrated a requiem high mass, pronounced the burial absolution, and preached the funeral sermon. He also officiated at the grave in Holy Family cemetery.

The services at the church were attended by a host of friends of the deceased.

Pallbearers were Philip Freund, Bert Thelken, Harry Thelken, Charles Hawmann, Aloysius Schebler, and Adolph Cawiezell.
