H. Meinhardt, A Prominent Farmer, Dead

Death Occurred at Mercy Hospital; Resided East of Eldridge.

Henry Meinhardt, a well known life-long Scott county resident, passed away at Mercy hospital at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, where he had been confined for the past ten days. His death terminated an illness of one month's duration.

Born on the old Meinhardt homestead west of Eldridge, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Meinhardt. His birth occurred Sep. 6, 1866. Upon his marriage Mr. Meinhardt took over a farm east of Eldridge. His wife, Frances, preceded him in death Sept. 20, 1920. Surviving are two sons, John P. at home, and Anton of Jefferson, Wis.; three brothers, the Rev. Nicholas Meinhardt of Hanover, N. M., Lawrence of Carroll, Iowa, and Joseph who resides on the old homestead west of Eldridge, and two sisters, Mrs. John Otten of Davenport, and Mrs. Frank Cellar (sic) of Pexico, Kas.

Deceased was a life-long member of St. Joseph's church, and had attended St. Joseph's school. The body was removed to the Fred N. Ruhl funeral home where it will remain until Tuesday morning. It will then be taken to the late home from where the funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday to St. Joseph's church at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Holy Family cemetery.

The Meinhardt Funeral.

The Henry Meinhardt funeral services were held from the later home, Davenport Rural Route No. 4, Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock, with services at 10 o'clock at St. Joseph's church. The Rev. J. J. Schoenfelder officiated, celebrating Requiem High Mass, pronouncing the burial absolution and preaching the funeral sermon. He also officiated at the grave in Holy Family cemetery.

At the beginning of the services, Miss Clara Ruhland Mis Josephine Resse sang "Mother Dear, O Pray for Me," and at the offertory they sang "Ave Maria." At the conclusion of the service they sang "Nearer My God to Thee." R. J. Zimmer of Rock Island accompanied them on the organ.

Pallbearers were Peter Freund, Albert Freund, Edward Rogge, Frank Brus, Tony Brus and Theodore Brus.
