Mrs. Schebler Dies After a Long Illness

Death Takes Woman Noted for Church Activities and Kindnesses.

Mrs. Joseph A. Schebler, aged 57 years, a leader in church activities in St. Joseph's parish and prominent throughout the city for her untiring and fiathful efforts in church circles, died at 10:15 o'clock this morning in her home, 1448 West Eighth street. Her death ended long months of illness, which she bore with a fortitude that won the admiration of her scores of neighbors and friends. Mrs. Schebler was stricken Christmas day and had been failing ever since.

She was formerly Miss Adelheid Moellenbeck, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Moellenbeck, Sr., well known residents of this county, and was born 12 miles northwest of Davenport, May 23, 1867. Her marriage to Joseph A. Schebler occurred Jan. 23, 1894 in St. Joseph's church in this city and she had resided here since. Mr. Schebler is a well known hardware man at 1128 West Third street.

Mrs. Schebler was a member of St. Angela branch, Western Catholic Union, the Christian Mothers' society, of which she was president many years prior to her last illness, St. Elizabeth's society of St. Joseph's church and the Daughters of Isabella. In all of these organizations she had been an active member and was known for her zeal and efforts in their interest. Her sphere of endeavor, however, was no limited to her family circle, to which she was devoted, or to the societies of which she was a member, but many other worthy causes enlisted her sympathy and support. Members of the Daughters of Isabella will meet in the home at 9 o'clock tomorrow night for prayer.

The body will remain at the Fred Ruhl funeral home until tomorrow afternoon when it will be removed to the family residence, from which funeral will be held at 8:30 o'clock Friday morning with services at 9 o'clock in St. Joseph's church.
