John Siegfried, a resident of Davenport for the last 56 years, died at 2 o'clock Saturday morning at his home, 1611 West Sixth street. His death followed an illness of brief duration.

Deceased was born in St. Gallen, Switzerland, Aug. 16, 1843, and received his education in the public schools there. He came to this country and to Davenport in 1870, and here on Feb. 8, 1875 was united in marriage to Miss Rosalia Sorg, the ceremony being performed by the late Mgr. A. Niermann of St. Joseph's church. The couple had since resided here.

Surviving besides the widow are five daughters, Mrs. Theodore Schebler, Mrs. William Meyers, Mrs. Philip Ruch, Mrs. E. Schwarz, and Mrs. William Steckel, all of Davenport; three sons, John O. Siegfried of Des Moines, Frank Siegfried of Davenport; and Anthony Siegfried, at home; one sister, Miss Elisa Siegfried of Davenport; one brother, Arnold Siegfried of Portland, Ore,; 21 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

The body was removed to the Fred N. Ruhl funeral home and will be returned to the late residence this morning. The funeral will be held from there at 8:30 a.m. Monday with services at 9 o'clock at St. Joseph's church. Burial will be in Holy Family cemetery.

The Siegfried Funeral

The funeral of John Siegfried was held this morning at 8:30 o'clock from the late home, with services at 9 o'clock at St. Joseph's church. The Rev. J. J. Schoenfelder celebrated a requiem high mass, pronounced the burial absolution, and preached the funeral sermon. The Rev. Father Schoenfelder also officiated at the interment in Holy Family cemetery.

The pallbearers, all grandsons of the deceased, were Arthur Schebler, Theodore Schebler, Jr., Lawrence Schebler, Gilbert Meyers, Arnold Ruth, and Edwin Meyers.

The services were very largely attended and there was a profusion of floral offerings.
