Local Grocer Called After Long Illness

Carl R. Schebler Dies Friday Afternoon at His Home.

Carl R. Schebler, 35, well-known local grocer, died at 5 o'clock Friday afternoon at his home, 701 Marquette street, after a lingering illness.

Mr. Schebler was a life resident of Davenport and was born here April 21, 1893. He received his education in St. Anthony's school and was graduated from the Davenport high school. He operated a grocery store at 701 Marquette street for many years.

He was married to Miss Catherine Trainor June 12, 1918 at St. Alphonsus church. Mr. Schebler was a member of the Western Catholic Union and the Holy Name society of St. Joseph's parish.

Surviving besides the widow are three daughters, Catherine, Dolores, and Rose Mary Schebler; one son, Donald; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schebler; two sisters, Mrs. Ed. Weeg, and Mrs. Anthony Ruefer; and four brothers, Vincent, Paul, Frank, and Anthony, all of Davenport.

The body was removed to the Runge mortuary and returned to the late hom from where the funeral will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday with services at St. Joseph's church at 9 o'clock. Burial will be made in Holy Family cemetery.

The Very Rev. George Giglinger and members of the Holy Name society will recite the Rosary at the home at 8 o'clock this evening.

The Schebler Funeral.

The funeral of Carl Schebler was held at 8:30 a.m. today from the home, 701 Marquette street, with services at 9 o'clock at St. Joseph's church. The Rev. George Giglinger celebrated a requiem high mass, pronounced the burial absolution, preached the funeral sermon and also officiated at the committal services in Holy Family cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ed Schloemer, Carl Moss, R. Connole, G. Leahy; W. H. Moritz, and Louis Lofek.
