Deceased is Survived by His Wife, and Six Sons and Three Daughters
August Ehlers, an old resident of this city prominent among the German residents and for many years a business man, passed away at his home, 1823 West Third street at 10:15 o'clock last night, succumbing to kidney troubles, from which he has been suffering for some time past. He was a man who possessed many friends, both in a social and a business way, and who, during the time he has been a member of the firm of Ehlers and Hasch, has established a good business record in the city.
Mr. Ehlers was 60 years of age, and a native of Holstein, Germany, where he was born on March 3, 1844. He came to this country in 1867 and at once took up his residence in this city, where he has made his home ever since with the exception of one year spent on a farm near this city. He has worked himself up in business, moving steadily upward from one business to another and, at the time of his death, was a member of the Ehlers & Hasch Flour and Feed company on Harrison street. He was a partner of Mr. Hasch for over eighteen years.
In 1869 Mr. Ehlers was married to Miss Christina Freidericke Kroeger, who survives him, together with six sons and three daughters, all of this city. The children are as follows: Adolph, William, Louis, August, Carl and Henry Ehlers, and Ella and Annie Ehlers and Mrs. Herman Diehn.
The funeral will be held next Tuesday afternoon from the home with interment at Fairmount cemetery.
