Funeral services for Adolph Arp, 85-year-old lifelong resident and well-known retired farmer of Scott county, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Runge funeral chapel, with burial in the Durant cemetery.

Mr. Arp, who resided at 1925 Wilkes avenue, Davenport, died at 7:15 a.m. Friday at Mercy hospital, following a 10-day illness.

He was born December 23, 1863, in Scott county, the son of the late Henry and Katherine Arp. He was educated in the rural schools and was married to Lena Wiese in Davenport, June 28, 1899. Following their marriage, the couple farmed near New Liberty, Iowa, until 1927 when they retired and moved to Davenport.

Mrs. Arp preceded her husband in death June 12, 1931. Mr. Arp is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Lawrence Bein, Walcott, Mrs. Ella Puls, Bellevue, Iowa, Mrs. Dick Eilers, Bennett, Iowa; four sons, Albert, of Eldridge, Emil, of Dixon, Walter, of Davenport, and Raymond, at home; a sister, Mrs. J. P. Oberleitner, Bellevue; a brother, Herman, Davenport; 11 grandchildren, one great-grand-child, and a number of nieces and nephews.

One daughter died in infancy.

Funeral services for Adolph Arp, 1925 Wilkes avenue, were held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Runge chapel with the Rev. Emerson Miller officiating. Ruth Wunschel sang. Burial was in the Durant cemetery.

Bearers were Alfred Fink, Adolph Stoffen, William Schneekloth, Fred Nordorf, George Dittmer and Andrew Spies.
