HAAGENSEN, HOOGENSEN, CHRISTIANSEN

Obit: After an illness lasting for several days, Claus Christiansen, an aged retired farmer, died at his home on the Slough road north of Schuetzen Park, yesterday morning at 6 o'clock. Deceased was born at Alsen, North Schleswig, Germany, Oct. 21, 1837. During his younger days he was under the Danish government and he served in the army of that country for two years. He was married to Miss Marie Elizabeth Haagensen and soon after the couple came to Scott County. He worked on a farm for a year and then removed to his own farm on which he lived for 42 years, and on which he died. Surviving him are his wife and nine children: Mrs. Ellen Smith, Davenport; Nels Christiansen, Moline; Mrs. Kate Winsor, Davenport; Christ Christiansen, Davenport; Claus Christiansen, Harlan; Mrs. Maria Buhman, John Christiansen, George Christiansen, Davenport; and Anna Christiansen at home; besides 11 grandchildren and one brother Christian Christiansen. He was a member of the Danish Brotherhood lodge, No. 3. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from the home on Slough road with interment in Fairmount cemetery.
