Obit: John Christiansen, 77, of 405 Waverly Rd., Davenport, died at 1:10 a.m. Saturday in Mercy Hospital after a six- weeks illness. A native of Scott County, he married Marie Casparsen Feb. 20, 1907 in Clinton. He owned and operated the J. Christiansen Coal Co., Davenport, for more than 30 years, retiring in 1950. He was a charter member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Surviving is a son, J. Everett of Davenport; a grandson, John E. of Dayton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. His wife, several brothers and sisters preceded him in death. Services will be a 1 p.m. Monday in the Runge Chapel. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. (Sunday Times-Democrat, June 12, 1960)
