After having been in failing health since Christmas, Mrs. Marie Elizabeth Christiansen died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. A. Smith, 2116 West Fifth Street, Davenport, yesterday afternoon at 3:15 o'clock. She was well known among the older residents of Scott County. Born in Als, denmark, on May 25, 1846, she grew to womanhood there and was married to Claus Christiansen on October 10, 1867. They came to Davenport in 1870 and settled on a farm on the old Slough road. Here they conducted a dairy for many years. She had made her home with her daughter for the last eight years. Her husband preceded her in death September 18, 1909. Mrs. Christiansen was a member of the Danish Lutheran church and the Danish Sisterhood. Those who survive are four daughters, Mrs. E. A. Smith fo Davenport, Mrs. B. V. Winsor of Jeffersonville, Ind., Mrs Herman Buhmann of Calamus, Ia., and Mrs. P. J. Swanson of Withee, Wis.; five sons, Nels of Moline and Chris, Clarence, John, and George of Davenport; two sisters, Mrs. Chris Polberg of Harlan, Ia., and Mrs. Peter Ostergard of Upland, Neb.; one brother Rasmus Haagensen of Campbell, Neb, and twenty grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon with private services at the home of her daughter at 2 o'clock. Services, to which friends will be welcome, will be held at 2:30 o'clock at the Danish Lutheran church, Sixth and Warren Streets. Burial will be in Fairmount cemetery. Rev. M. A. The Mrs. Marie Elizabeth Christiansen funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock from the home, 2116 West 5th Street and at 3:30 o'clock from the Danish Lutheran Church. Rev. M. A. Getzendaner officiated. Pallbearers were Clarence Dall, Arthur Christiansen, LeRoy Christiansen, Herbert Buhmann, Otto Paulsen and August DeClark. (dod 29 May 1924)
