Yesterday morning at an early hour occurred the death of an old and highly respected citizen, David M. Gray. Mr. Gray was born at College Hill, Hamilton county, Ohio, August 30, 1810. He attended the college at Oberlin, Ohio, where he graduated with honors. His parents were wealthy and he learned no trade nor did he prepare himself for any profession but devoted his time to the care of his property. In 1853 he came to Davenport and in the great crash of 1857 lost nearly all of his capital. He began at once to do what he could to repair his fortune but in 1870 he received an injury which came near resulting in death. Ever since that time he has been an invalid. He leaves besides his wife, seven children to mourn his loss, Isaac, of this city, William in Stuart, Ia., Mrs. T. Neils and Mrs. E.J. Foster, in Davenport, Mrs. Melia Sheets in Omaha, Liday and Annie at home. The funeral will take place Sunday afternoon from his late residence, 315 Esplanade avenue.
